Maʿlūlā Skirt blue meets blue Families survived by planting smallThis skirt is named after Mall, a mountain village built into limestone cliffs northeast of Damascus. Mall is one of the few places in the world where Western Aramaic, the language once spoken across the region, is still used in daily life. Families there carried that language through conversation, prayer, and storytelling, passing it from parent to child for generations. In 2013, Mall was overtaken during the war. Homes and monasteries were damaged.
