Takahashi named this collection after the famous french saying "Sous les pavs, la plage!" coined during the May 1968 protests in France. It has the double meaning of both "beneath the system of order lies nature pleasure vacation" and that the key to reaching that is civil insurrection, which in the traditional Parisian sport of barricading the streets involves tearing up the paving stones.
