Some of the elements in this sketch and in the final painting seem to reference motifs by Paolo Veronese (the angels lifting the grave's lid)

and became one of Antwerp's leading religious painters

presumably on the grounds of a certain resemblance to Lievens's features as recorded in Van Dyck's 'Iconographie'

although it appears to agree with his taste
